The Lebron James tour came home to Quicken Loans Arena Friday. Playing an iron man like 31 minutes (compared to his 17 on Wednesday), James and the Cavaliers cruised to a stress free 112-97 win over the Golden State Warriors. Did I say stress free? Cavs coach Mike Brown mentioned a “funky style” of basketball the Warriors played that forced him to lock them down defensively. By “funky”, he must mean the time honored no defense-fast break style that’s kept the Warriors exciting to watch in fits, but has kept them from being one of the NBA’s elite teams. The real headache comes from the cloud that has followed James for the past two weeks, a speculation has run rampant in the New York media and well, anywhere else where a team might have a few cap dollars to spare in 2010. Add to that the ever ubiquitous Charles Barkley calling him out and you might wonder what is going on in LBJ’s head right about now.
Hard to tell from the past to games, where James seemed relaxed, positively happy to defer minutes and points to his steller teammates. If the front page speculation of him “auditioning” for teams seems pique to Cavs fans, they can rest assure, for now, their superstar is enjoying the simple things not usually associated with Cleveland sports: Winning in a dominant fashion.
